I’m sure along your insurance career you have noticed a close connection to ethical issues and compliance, whether it be on the job, with the state, or even at the federal level. This seminar will explore those areas where ethics and compliance come together. At the state level, we will look at Division of Insurance, Fair Trade Practices, and Unfair Claims Practices. At the federal level, we will inquire as to what areas apply to property and casualty arena. The foundation of ethics will be discussed – including Golden Rule, Society’s changing expectations and professional code of ethics along with special responsibilities of licensed agents and/or adjusters. We will also review the ethics of insurance sales, agent authority levels and definition of professionalism. Lastly, we will review the remedies for noncompliance on ethical issues and why that should not be the chosen path. Along the way there will be case studies to review and team interaction.
